1990 toyota sunrader classics, v-6, automatic, 15-17 mpg

only 95,920 original miles!

The sunrader classic runs and handles great!

Excellent condition inside and out!

It’s as easy to drive as a car

this is a “rare” 1990 toyota sunrader classics motorhome(they stopped making them in 1991) that is in excellent condition, and has 95k miles on its long lasting toyota engine. Along the line of toyota rv’s, the sunrader is considered to be the top of the line in luxury motorhomes due to the superior due to the superior construction, quality and versatility.

Sunrader classics, manufacturer of quality motorhomes, recognized the need of people who wanted to experience “rving” without buying a bus sized vehicle, yet with the comfort of a fully self-contained motorhome. The sunrader, measuring 21′ feet from bumper to bumper, is large enough for comfort yet will fit nicely into a standard parking spot. The sunrader is perfect for a day at the beach, a weekend at the campground or touring the usa, canada and mexico from east to west!

The sunrader is highly sought after because it has a patented all fiberglass molded shell body with strong aluminum and steel framing underneath which is unlike any other toyota motorhome. This makes for a lighter load and no roof or corner seams to leak, so common in other motorhomes.

Powered by the legendary toyota 3.0 efi fuel injected v6 engine, on a true one-ton chassis, it gets awesome gas mileage and, with regular maintenance, is basically trouble free. With gas prices continuing to soar, this economical, yet roomy, motor coach is a great way to go. The toyota v6 engine has plenty of power to pass and pull the hills and cruises nicely on the highway at 65-70 mph. It also has overdrive for extra fuel savings! I have consistently gotten 16mpg when driving this rv.

Let’s take a tour!

Starting at the front of the coach, the sunrader has two roomy seats in the cab, which features a/c for those hot days, a tilt steering wheel for driving comfort, and a new kenwood bluetooth cd stereo with speakers in back for an awesome sound. The cab has controls for the adjustable rear air bag suspension. Above the cab is a comfortable bed for two adults with a removable section that makes for headroom and easy access to the rear of the coach without having to get out of the rv.

Moving to the rear of the coach, just behind the drivers seat, is a full sized couch that easily converts into a bed that sleeps two adults. Opposite the couch is a dinette booth and table that converts to an additional bed for one adult or two children. Both the couch and the booth are equipped with seatbelts, which along with the cab, allows for 7 to ride in safety.

The sunrader has matching, stylish upholstery throughout the rv that is in good condition with no rips or excessive wear showing. Above the living room area are roomy storage compartments conveniently located to store all of your necessities out of the way, but just within an arms reach. The sunrader also features roof mounted a/c that quickly cools down the couch on hot days. There are also lots of windows to take in those great views while touring or camped on a mountaintop.

Further back, behind the living room, is a compact “galley” with a four burner wedgwood range, oven, overhead fan and a double stainless steel sink. Across from the stove is a dometic refrigerator with freezer that runs on gas or electric. The refridgerator was serviced last summer. On top of the fridge is a nook to set your tv or microwave. There is a d/c power outlet (cigarette lighter) as well as standard plug in.

The sunrader has a central furnace with four vented heating ducts to keep you toasty warm. It runs quiet and is controlled by a regular thermostat for easy use. A very sweet feature is the dsi water heater that, with a flick of a switch from inside the coach, heats the water for showers and dishes. Most toyota motorhomes require you go outside and manually light the water heater.

At the rear of the coach is the bathroom, which is comprised of a shower, toilet, sink, mirrored medicine cabinet and a closet for hanging clothes and extra storage. The sunrader has a surround fiberglass shower enclosure, just like in the newer, more expensive rv’s. Most toyota rv’s have wallpaper inside the showers, instead of the fiberglass enclosure, that makes for dry rot problems down the road. The bathroom also has an accordian style door for privacy and a fan on the roof vent for quick ventilation.

The sunrader is equipped with a kholer 2500 watt generator. It has a deep cycle marine battery that runs all of the coach lights, water pump, furnace and fans. So, you can park wherever you want without the need to plug in, and still have everything needed for comfort. However, when plug-in’s are available, it has full hook up capacity with a built in power converter. It also has a molded storage on back and on the side for additional storage. The sunrader also has a universal hitch on back for light towing or bike racks.

This sunrader has a custom reserve gas tank. This is great for when you are traveling extended distances or use the generator for long periods of time. The rv comes with a retractable exterior awning. I purchased a carefree vinyl scrren room to add to the awning. This adds a large covered porch to the awning and doubles the usable square footage of the rv. It is not installed yet, i have the instructions and all materials. We decided to get a bigger rv this summer.

Vehicle condition:

this is a 1990 model sundrader motorhome built on a 1989 toyota chassis with 95k original low miles. Overall the sunrader is great condition for its age, it is super clean, and has been well maintained. If you have ever wanted to own one of these toyota motorhomes, this is the one for you. The sunrader is trip ready and i would feel comfortable driving it anywhere.

I am the 3rd owner. When i bought this coach 2 years ago, i had it inspected by a certified toyota mechanic. He gave the engine and transmission a clean bill of health. The only thing needed was a change in the engine idle. The previous owner had recently replaced the timing belt and maintained the rv meticulously.

The engine starts easily and purrs like a kitten. The transmission shifts smoothly like it should. The engine doesn’t burn any oil, and there are no leaks. I put in a new battery this afternoon and have the warranty information for it. It rides very smooth. If you have never owned a toyota, you are in for a treat. I have owned several toyota’s and they are great on gas, very dependable and with regular maintenance practically run forever.

However, please keep in mind that you are on bidding an used rv, not a brand new motorhome, so expect some normal wear and usage.

The overhead a/c needs to be recharged with freon. The unit turns on and blows strong, however, the air is not cold. The generator starts, however it stalls out and shuts off. I will be taking it apart to clean and service it.

The sunrader comes with all the owners and operations manuals

as you can see from the pictures the paint is in good condition. The striping and decals original with some fading spots, but it still shows well. The only damage to the exterior is to the cover of the molded exterior storage. The corner is cracked, as shown in the picture. The roof does not leak and has been resealed every summer. This is a smoke free rv. The cab a/c will freeze you. The sunrader has updated wood flooring. All of coach systems have been tested and appear to be in working order; the fridge, water pump, interior lighting, propane burners and furnace all work great.
